Healing Paw Courteous Canines Class (Therapy Dog & Canine Good Citizen)

Healing Paw Courteous Canines Class (Therapy Dog Team & AKC Canine Good Citizen)

A Therapy Dog should also be a Canine Good Citizen.  Therefore, we teach both of these in one class.  Teach your dog many of the same skills we teach assistance dogs and prepare your dog for visiting hospitals, nursing homes and other facilities. Your dog will learn how to greet people who are standing, sitting or lying down as well as become familiar and comfortable with wheelchairs, walkers and crutches. Automatically sitting next to your chair and lying under a table are skills that you will appreciate and can use anywhere. In addition, your dog will learn some tricks, and be taught to place his chin, cheek and head in a person’s hand. Learn to move gracefully with your dog in a synchronized manner as if dancing!

Taking the CGC Test AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC)  will occur on the final class.  A field trip to a local nursing home will be scheduled on a date after completion of the class to earn your Therapy Dog Certificate.
