Q&A

Q: IS THERE A COST TO ATTEND?

A: There is no cost to attend. We will happily accept any monetary donations which will be given to a local rescue. We will also be collecting new and gently used collars, harnesses, leashes, toys and unopened bags of treats to donate to local dog rescues.

Please keep in mind that our vendors are small businesses and therefore may not be able to accept credit cards. Our vendors have been hard at work creating their beautiful crafts for you. Please help support the vendors who cannot accept credit cards by also bringing cash with you.

Q: IS THERE PARKING AT THE EVENT?

A: There is a large parking lot with free parking. There are some spaces that are Reserved for American Legion members, along with motorcycle spaces Reserved for the members. Please do not park in any Reserved spaces.

Q: HOW CAN I BE A VENDOR AT THE EVENT?

A: We are still looking for vendors! Email us at socialtailwaggers@gmail.com if you are interested in being a vendor.

Q: MY DOG IS UNDER 5 MONTHS OF AGE, CAN I BRING MY DOG?

A: The event is for dogs 5 months and older. Fido Fest (or any event of
this type) is not appropriate for dogs under the age of 5 months. You are also
welcome to come without your dog to enjoy the vendors, meet the rescues, and
get some ideas on how to have fun with your dog.

Q: ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON WHAT BREEDS CAN ATTEND?

A: The event is open to all breeds. Although we love Pit Bulls, due to the
Prince Georges County Law regarding this breed (County Code 3-185.01 Pit Bull
Terriers; https://www.animallaw.info/local/md-prince-georges-county-breed-
%C2%A7-3-18501-pit-bull-terriers#Sec3-185.01
), we are unable to allow
any Pit Bulls to attend the event.

You are welcome to attend without your dog to enjoy the vendors, meet the
rescues, and get some ideas on how to have fun with your dog.

Q: IS THIS AN “ALL-WEATHER EVENT”?

A: This is an “All Weather” event. If the event is cancelled due to heavy rain, we will post on our website and Facebook page Friday evening, May 5th.

Q: SHOULD I BRING TREATS FOR MY DOG?

A: Treats will be needed to play the games. We appreciate if you would bring your dog’s treats for the games. We will have treats if you forget to bring your dog’s treats (chicken and beef.) If your dog has allergies please bring plenty of your dog’s treats and notify the volunteers at each game that you will be using your treats.

Q: MY DOG IS NOT FRIENDLY TO PEOPLE/DOGS; CAN I STILL COME?

A: Since there will be multiple dogs at the event, all dogs must be both people and
dog friendly. Our goal is to provide a fun event for dogs and their humans. If your
dog typically barks/growls/lunges at other dogs and people, any event with
multiple dogs/people is not an appropriate place to be.

If you are not sure if your dog should attend the event, please contact us. We will
be happy to have a phone conversation with you to determine if our event is
appropriate for your dog.

Q: ARE OTHER ANIMALS ALLOWED AT THE EVENT?

A: Only dogs and their humans will be allowed into the event. If your family has
other animal species (cat/snake/bearded dragon/etc.), please leave them at
home.

Q: ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED AT THE EVENT?

A: Children are allowed at the event. All children must be accompanied by a
parent at all times during the event. Although the event is held in a large field, for safety reasons, children are not allowed to be running around during the event. All dogs must must be handled by an adult at all times.

Q: CAN MY DOG BE OFF LEASH AT THE EVENT?

A: For safety reasons, no retractable leashes will be allowed in the event. All dogs must be on a non-retractable leash at all times. We recommend all dogs wear a harness with the leash attached to their harness.

Q: I HAVE MULTIPLE DOGS, CAN I BRING ALL OF MY DOGS?

A: You are welcome to bring all of your dogs. For safety reasons, if you have more than 2 dogs you must have an additional adult to handle the dogs (no more than 2 dogs per adult.)

Q: WILL THERE BE FOOD AT THE EVENT?

A: We are currently looking for mobile food vendors, however, we cannot guarantee there will be food at the event. If you bring food/beverage (non-alcoholic) to the event please do not place your food/beverage on the equipment or vendor tables. There are a few picnic tables you may use. If you are a food vendor and interested in a space, please contact us.
