GAMES!! CLASS

The cost for classes will be increasing January 1, 2026.  Register for offered classes by December 31, 2025 and still get current pricing.

Why Games?!  Simply put…because they are fun!  It is important for your dog to learn basic manners skills, not only so your dog will be a well-mannered dog but also to help you and your dog learn how to communicate with each other.  However, if teaching these skills is “boring” for you and/or your dog, how much time will you really spend teaching your dog and, how long will your dog pay attention to you!

Games benefit both your dog and you!  Not only do they enhance your dog’s comprehension, enjoyment, and fluency in the skills being taught, but the fun derived from these games also classically conditions your dog to find joy in the very skills we’re training. In essence, training using games transforms the often complex learning of skills, into a much more enjoyable and reinforcing experience for both you and your dog.

We will be using our dog’s wants and desires while playing the games…sniffing, exploring, moving, running, chasing, and eating (i.e., what’s important to them), to help build what’s important to us.  If your dog is having fun, he is going to be more focused on you and will want to do what you are asking of him.  This, in turn, will help to build a stronger relationship between you and your dog.

The games will be grouped into categories:  Proximity & Recall; Attention, Focus, & Impulse Control; Engagement; Walking; Duration; and Distractions.  Most of the games fit into multiple categories.  Each week we will work on a category of games; at the end of the class, we will combine some of the games together to create additional variations which will help with duration and distractions.
